Headphones
The selection of headphones is more important with the Nautilus than
other detectors, apart from the fact that there is no external speaker! This is due to the different tones and
volumes produced in the left and right headphone speakers and because of this,
it is very strongly recommended to use headphones with individual speaker
volume controls.
Headphones must be wired for true stereo, otherwise they will not
work. Many specialist detector
headphones are not wired true stereo, even those with compatibility
switches.
Many of the basic traditional basic headphones offered by detector
manufactures such as C.Scope, Garrett, etc, are suitable for the Nautilus. They are very similar in design, having twin
volume controls and a stereo/mono switch.
Some US specialist headphone manufacturers (Killer Bs and DetectorPro)
make headphones specifically for the Nautilus, but because of RoHS compliance
issues they are not available in the UK or EU.
As a result, we have teamed-up with “Detecting the Past” who make the
Chef Phone range of metal detecting headphones, to offer a quality UK built
headset specifically designed for the Nautilus and which will work with any
other detector as well, see below.
